2012 Budget & Taxes

The 2012 Haverford Township budget is being reviewed by teh Board of Commissioners. As proposed by the Township Manager, the 2012 Budget totaled $35,866,723.00, and generated an 8.3% tax increase. The final approved budget calls for a 5.2% tax increase.

The major reasons for the tax increase are the obligations (called Minimum Municipal Obligations) that the Township must deposit into the police and non-uniform pension plans, the cost of gas (which has risen from $2.1216 to $3.1133) and diesel fuel (which has risen from $2.12.16 to $4.1199), as well as increased insurance premiums, legal fees, and the cost emergency repairs and improvements to the aging sanitary and storm sewer systems.
