Flu Shots

The Haverford Township Health Department sponsored a series of Influenza Immunization Clinics in 2010 and is expected to offer the shots again in 2011. When information is available, it will be posted on this website.

Flu Shot Guidelines

There is no charge for the immunization and you must be a Township resident and in one of the following high risk groups to qualify:

1. Persons 65 years of age and older
2. Persons with chronic medical conditions.
3. Adults with chronic disorders of the pulmonary or cardiovascular systems, such as asthma, COPD, emphysema, etc.
4. Adults who have required regular medical follow-up or hospitalization during the preceding year because of chronic metabolic disease, (including diabetes
mellitus), renal dysfunction, hemoglobinopathies, or immunosuppression (including immunosuppression caused by medications).
5. Adults providing home care to chronically ill persons.
6. Household members of high risk persons.
7. Women who will be pregnant during the Influenza season.

There will be a short waiting period after receiving the shot.

The following persons are not eligible to receive the Influenza Vaccine:

1. Children under 18 years of age.
2. Persons allergic to eggs, Thimerosal, Gentamicin, or prior influenza vaccines.
3. Persons with Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
4. Anyone who is feeling ill with a fever. (Please check with your doctor or nurse.)
5. Persons with a systemic Latex Allergy

All eligible Township residents are required to make an appointment, no exceptions, which will be scheduled in 15 minute time blocks. For an appointment, please contact the Haverford Township Health Department at (610) 446-1000 x 2202. The Township will begin scheduling appointments on Monday, September 27, 2010.
